Fauxtographer, the occasional result of some Xmas gifts. Photography is one of the greatest sources of enjoyment for me. I have spent many many hours helping others to better understand their cameras and improve their photography. I hope I have the opportunities to help many more. The Internet is full of fantastic information on how to take better photographs.
I will take then Urban Dictionaries definition:
A person who tries to jump on the photography band-wagon by “Pointing-and-shooting” hundreds of terrible pictures, which they will upload to myspace in an album titled “My Photography”, “My Art”, or “Critique My work”. Always followed up by the person adding “Photography” to their General section, or adding “Photography is my life…” to their About Me.
Come February or March, sometimes earlier, Facebook profiles will be updated. Some even rush out to set up a website. Why, because now they are a photographer. Family and friends feel pressurised to use them at weddings, proms and other important non-repeatable events.
Why a Professional Photographer?
There are many reasons why you should consider a professional photographer. As a professional I am fully insured – many venues will not let in uninsured photographers. My equipment is regularly serviced and electrically checked – again many venues ask to see certification.
I carry backups and backups for those backups. Whatever happens I will always have working cameras to catch the whole of the event – very important at weddings. I also have all the equipment to back everything up. You will never hear me say sorry, the camera deleted it.
Possibly the most important though is that I am qualified with a Professional Photographic institute, the British Institute of Professional Photographers (BIPP). Yes my work has been evaluated and acknowledged by some of the countries best photographers and they deemed my work good enough to allow me to state that I am a qualified member.
